FAQ

For now, this page is only home to instructions for attaching iron on patches, and care of embroidered items, but please ask if there's anything else you'd like added!

Applying Iron on Patches

My patches come by default with Heat n Bond UltraHold as an adhesive, although can be made without upon request. For those patches with this adhesive, they can make a rather strong bond to fabric when applied appropriately, so there's no need to sew for additional security, although you can of course do so! Be warned that because of the nature of the adhesive, it can gum up needles, which can be especially problematic with sewing machines. Isopropyl alcohol can be used to help remove any stickiness from needles.

How to Apply
Step by Step

–    Make sure your fabric is clean and the desired area is lint free and has no wrinkles.

–    Preheat your iron to a medium heat, with no steam.

–    Peel off the paper liner.

–    Place the patch down on the surface, cover with a pressing cloth, and press with firm pressure over the whole area for about 8 seconds.

–    Wait for it to completely cool before checking the strength of the attachment to the fabric! Checking while still hot can break the bond between fabrics before it has set properly!
